The "Low Flying Object" seeks to set a speed record at the 2022 Bonneville Speedweek.
SXK and local engineering company, Radial Motion have teamed up in a attempt to break national and international land speed records. With the 2022 Lake Gairdner salt lake speed trials cancelled due to flooding, the next record in sight is at the 2022 Bonneville Speedweek in the United States.
Radial Motion are an aircraft engine specialist, developing a three-cylinder enginge that has been mounted to an MV Augustua Dragster chassis. The entire frame has been redesigned by SXK, and only the subframe, swingarm, and front end from the Dragster remain. The engine has a total displacement of 2,100cc, delivering 220 horsepower, and revs all the way up to 10,000 RPM.

SALT BEEZA: 1948 BSA B33 LAND SPEED BIKE
In February 2021 while at the Adelaide Home Brew Festival showcasing some past builds, Corinna of Prancing Pony Brewery approached SXK about attending DLRA (Dry Lakes Racers Australia) Speed Week at Lake Gairdner. Originally attending as support crew, SXK decided at the last minute to enter the BSA. Originally used as Mat Kennedy’s daily rider, the 1948 BSA B33 underwent an engine rebuild. It was stripped down to make it as light as possible, the fenders were shortened, a steering dampener mounted, and a pair of kill switches installed (a challenge in itself due to the old-school magneto setup)
The “Beeza” was entered in the 500cc modified partial streamline vintage gas class, where we hoped to hit a speed of 80 mph. Though rain and fueling issues kept us from reaching our target speed. However, we still managed to set an Australian record of 64 mph in this class. Matt Sheppard piloted the bike for the speed runs, trying to make himself as flat and aerodynamic as possible.
The 2022 target speed was set at 100 mph which was unfortunately put on hold due to poor weather hindering the Lake Gairnder event from going ahead.
